Tri-Tip Roast

  • 1 1/2 pound Tri-tip roast
  • 1 tsp Dried thyme
  • 1 tsp Dried basil
  • 1 tsp Dried marjoram
  • 1 tsp Dry mustard
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup Red wine
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil


  • Rub roast all over with thyme, basil, marjoram, mustard, salt, pepper. Place meat in sealable plastic bag, seal and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. Pour red wine in with meat 4 hours before cooking
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Drizzle olive oil over bottom of roasting pan
  • Place meat in roasting pan
  • Roast in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F and continue roasting meat until slightly pink in center, approximately 20 more minutes. Thermometer should read 140 degrees F.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before thinly slicing against grain
  • Serve and enjoy!
