Slow Cooker Brisket

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 pound Beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Rub

  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 3/4 tsp Mustard powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper

BBQ Sauce

  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

  • Mix rub ingredients and rub over brisket. If time allows, leave for 30 minutes - 24 hours in fridge
  • Combine BBQ sauce ingredients and brush over brisket, add brisket to slow cooker
  • Slow cook for 8-10 hours
  • Remove brisket onto a tray
  • Pour liquid in slow cooker into a saucepan. Bring to simmer over medium-high heat and reduce until it thickens to a syrup consistency. (it will continue to thicken as it cools)
  • While liquid is reducing, drizzle brisket with oil then roast in 400 degree F oven for 15 minutes until brown. Remove then baste generously with sauce. Return to oven for 5 more minutes. Remove and baste again, return for 5-10 minutes until it caramelizes.
  • Remove to a cutting board, slice thinly against the grain and serve with remaining BBQ sauce. Enjoy!
